Simile: A comparison of two things using like or as.
Directions: You are going to write your own poem using a simile. First, you must pick an object or thing to write about. Secondly, you must write down physical traits and characteristics of the object or thing. Thirdly, you must make comparisons to other objects or things. Think about the cat and the lime in the beginning of class. Finally, you must put together a poem that has at least five similes that are descriptive and unique.

2) Name as many characteristics of your object as you can:
Ex) Green, furry, black eyes
3) Make as many comparisons as you can:
Ex) As green as a blade of summer grass
Ex) Eyes as black as a moonless night
4) Write your poem using at least five similes on the back of this sheet. REMEMBER to not mention
your object in the poem so the class can guess what it is.
